Initial club

The EU Club is a high school club – part of the “Learning Law” program, in which the participants who are in the second year of participation in the program, that is after the successful completion and completion of the initial course of the first year, are members. The EU was created in the academic year 2009/10, when, due to the great interest of secondary school students, “Learning Law” in following the lectures on the topics of the European Union, the composition of lecturers of the program formed the first EU club in Skopje. The first group consisted of about 15 high school students from several high schools from Skopje who followed the curriculum of two semesters of the EU as guests of the Youth Education Forum in Skopje. Since 2012, a curriculum of integrated lectures on the European Union (EU Club curriculum) and lectures dedicated to international law and international relations, the United Nations Organization and the Council of Europe has been implemented within the Law Forward Learning Club.

Every year, the EU Club organizes workshops on topics related to the European Union and the European integration process of the Republic of Macedonia. Some of the topics covered by the lectures are: the historical festival of the formation of the EU, waves of enlargement, what is common in the Union and EU policies, the educational and youth policies of the community (Youth in action, Life Long Learning), EU institutions and way of decision-making, Macedonia and the EU retro (perspective) and the European Union after the Treaty of Lisbon.

In addition, two simulations are planned, one of which is a simulation of the work of the European Council, and the other is a simulation of the work of the Security Council at the United Nations. With these simulations, high school students get closer to the European institutions and better understand the focus in the direction of developing negotiation, lobbying and public speaking skills.
